Weekend review: Beach life

The question du jour: Did you have a nice weekend?

My answer, albeit a bit hesitant: Yes.

This past weekend was spent in Ocean City, MD with quite a few good friends. The weather was OK, but not brilliant. And when it came to the weekend’s agenda, not everyone was on the same page. So in the end, it was a bit like herding cats. Irish, male cats.

Saturday was kind of a wash because the weather was frigid (for the beach) and while Sunday was sunny, it just felt like it was taking forever for the fun to get started. I suppose it’s hard when your crew consisted of 3 girls and a gazillion boys. And perhaps my expectations were a little too high based on last summer’s OC adventure where everyone was excited for just as much beach time as they were for party time. In the end, my expectations just didn’t meet the reality of the weekend. But it can definitely be said that when the fun did finally kick off, there was much to be had. Here is a picture montage of Sunday’s shenanigans:

If I seem a little ambivalent about the weekend, it’s because I am. I wanted to walk away with epic stories to tell; instead, I walked away with a few funny stories and some life lessons or rather happiness goals.

  • Don’t let other people’s actions dictate your happiness or the success of your day.
  • Embrace your feelings, but don’t let them get the better of you.
  • And even at age 29, understand that insecurities might creep up on you when you least expect it, but that’s just the best time to prove how far you’ve come in life.

And of course, there’s always the reiteration of my life rules, especially #4 today – let it roll off your back.

So let’s end this post with a toast to May’s adventure. Perhaps not my fave out of the past 5, but definitely worth a few smiles and always grateful for the memories made.
